Back in October I started working on a commission to create three whimsical girls that a father wanted to gift to his little girl for Christmas. I poured my heart and soul into them, loved them while they were mine, and said my goodbyes when they were ready to go to their new home.

It makes my inner child happy to know that three of my original creations reside in a little girl’s room somewhere. I hope that when she looks at them, she feels the magic I felt while painting them.

What if you set yourself free from your limiting beliefs and allowed yourself to fly?

What if you left your smallness behind and flew toward the greatness that awaits?

Our fears hold us prisoner and keep our wings from expanding.

Until you spread your wings and fly, you won’t be free.

Wow! How is it already February?! It’s hard to believe how quickly the days and weeks tick by.

I’ve had lots going on and I’ve been busy painting and planning and imagining – three favorite pastimes for this chronic daydreamer. And I’ve also been trying to remember that not everything can get done. And that’s ok. It’s ok to be imperfect…which was my lesson last month for Mixed Media Play Date. So many of us spend more time beating ourselves up for our imperfections rather than celebrating them. Our imperfections are what make us beautifully, uniquely us!

Now that January is over, I wanted to take a minute to share and celebrate some of the fun, fabulous, and imperfect art by the students of Mixed Media Play Date! So exciting to see various interpretations!
